The objective of the project consists in planning and steering public and private works oriented to manage the sources of pollutants flowing into Sellustra river. The aim is to demonstrate the integrated application of "constructed wetlands", "buffer strips" and "bioengineering" on basin scale and to evaluate their effectiveness in improving river water quality, through the control of point/non point pollution and soil erosion, as well as in landscape remediation.

The purpose is to join productive activities (included farming) with environmental safeguard and sustainable development.

The Life demonstrative project is mainly of interest of officers and Public Administrations and is aimed to produce an useful "model" for planning remediation projects following a bottom – up strategy that can be reproduced in others geographical areas. For this reason there will be a great effort in the dissemination activity in Italy and Europe.
